Isn’t this gorgeous? I took it this morning near our apartment. It makes me happy every time I look at it. It would be awesome if I could paint this…maybe…

Keith completed a 62-mile bike ride today to benefit cancer patients and their families. He did an awesome job too, averaging 20 mph, and finishing in three hours and 15 minutes! As always, I’m so proud. He does things I can’t fathom making my body do. He’s napping now, and I just might join him. This week marked my seventh morning to rise at 5 a.m. and go running with a co-worker. We’ve now worked our way up to 2.5 miles, and Monday we’re shooting for three. It’s interesting really; I always thought I wasn’t a morning person, but I’m starting to enjoy it. This morning I even got up at 7 and met him there for a run. Unfortunately, the sun was already up as well, so it sapped us pretty quickly. NYC trip is coming up. Woohoo!

Let the countdown begin…

4 05 2009

24 days til I am the proud owner of an iPhone! I am counting the moments, so expect more annoying posts about it in the near future.

This weekend was full of rain and lots and lots of sleep. My car broke down on Saturday night, right after I got it back from the dealership for an oil change, and conveniently, an hour before I was supposed to be at work. Somehow I managed to get it back to the dealership, get a loaner and make it to work on time. I will find out the diagnosis tomorrow. I know it seems as if they did something wrong during the changing of the oil, but I’m thinking it’s likely coincidence. 150,000 miles on my car; could need a new fuel pump. fun times.

Keith went on a bike ride today with a guy I work with and some others. They rode in the rain, and pretty much, through the river. He brought me a pile of wet and muddy clothes home to launder. He’s going out again tomorrow, and I’m sure we’ll repeat the process.

That’s all I’ve got. I’m so boooorrrring right now. I hope the sun comes out tomorrow!

sleepovers, estate sales & bicycle rides

9 03 2009

I went to an old-school sleepover last night and I had the greatest time. We ate Mexican food, drank margaritas and wine, watched Jaws, played Scattergories and stayed up way too late. We fell asleep listening to the Kings of Leon’s Only by the Night album and woke up to a home-cooked breakfast. Good times.

Then a friend and I went to an estate sale, where I bought eight 1940s-era photos. I’m not really sure why. They just looked cool, and I love trying to figure out the story behind them. Maybe I’ll post them soon, once I get them scanned.

Today, Keith went on his first ride on his new bike. bib shorts, gloves, helmet, jersey and strange biking shoes that attach to the pedals–he dressed the part and suffered zero accidents. I ran along behind and felt so slow. I’ve got to get a bike so that I can ride with him.

Anyhow, it’s exactly one week till the LR Marathon Relay. I hope I’m ready.

Just chillin’ out

22 02 2009

I feel like I say this all the time, but this week was a hard one, seriously. The publication I work for switched printers, so we had to go to press a week early. Needless to say, I put in a lot of hours over the past two weeks and it jacked with my sleeping schedule. So this weekend was all about relaxing and forgetting the worries. Had some drinks with the co-workers right after work on Friday, then went to a friends’ house and continued the festivities. I had a massage (a Christmas gift) at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and it was WONDERFUL! My shoulders have been sore, not from lifting weights, but from Wii boxing and tennis. Yes, this is true. I finished The Time Traveler’s Wife, and I consider it one of the best books I’ve ever read. I googled it just now and found out that there will be a film based on the novel released next year. YAY!

Saturday night, Keith and I watched Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. Loved it. And in typical fashion, we fell asleep on the couch. I woke up at 1:30 a.m. and couldn’t go back to sleep, so I finished watching Waitress, which I had DVRed. Waitress made me want to make crazy pies with crazy names and open my own pie shop. Watch it.

I then updated my iPod, downloaded some new music, watched some Kings of Leon videos on You Tube, looked at their tour schedule, and picked out recipes that I want to make from Bon Appetit. I went back to bed at 5:30 a.m.

I went to the gym this morning and ran hard and fast on the treadmill. While running, I started craving an omelet. Strange, since I don’t really like eggs. I couldn’t shake the craving, so that’s what I had for lunch, an omelet with cheese, peppers and onions. It was so amazing.

Keith is out buying a bike from a guy on Craigslist. Tonight, I am going to an Oscar watch party at a friend/co-worker’s house. I hope everyone has a great week. I’ll try to give the blog some more attention this week.
